Gilded at a Cost
Characters: Sariel & Bird Writers: @yarnnerdally @lorei-writes @evil-quartett Rating: all ages Warnings: none Notes: We played Frantic Fanfic in voice chat and decided it was too much fun not to share it. Strap in for the chaos! (5 minutes mode; we challenged ourselves to be serious)
Despite the most recent attempt by Clavis to disrupt order within Rhodolite castle, there was at least some good that came of it this time around. One of the birds (a mourning dove) that he had released within the throne room had taken a liking to Sariel, much to his chagrin. He didn't see the need to eliminate the birds and he couldn't help but wonder if this one knew that. The dove cooed softly from the corner of the room. It sat patiently on a perch and seemed to follow him no matter where he went. "Well, at least you're more well behaved than half of the residents of this place," he murmured aloud to the dove.
The dove flew over and perched itself on Sariel's shoulder, cooing again. A soft, wry smile spread over Sariel's face and he reached up to pet it gently.
---
The dove did not avoid his touch. As delicate a creature as it was, it leaned into his gloved hand, small beak nuzzling into the leather. The bird, it seemed, understood him on some fundamental level. However, a bird's comprehension was limited.
The throne room needed to be vacated eventually, a new king settling into his reign. And so, the bird had to follow Sariel out of it, this time bound by a cage. It spread its wing, wide as it could. But it couldn't fly. Not in the palace, not then
Not when bound by human rules.
---
The dove's wings were cut. Sariel could understand it. For him, the work in the palace had become repetitive, like the dove's birdcage. He knew the dove should be out, flying freely, but he just couldn't let it go, Rarely had a being ever showed so much trust in him, not the common fear of his devilish nature. Still, selfishly, he couldn't let it go. It made a pact with the devil, and he wouldn't let go of it now. Sariel had little friends in the castle. Respect yes, but someone he truly considered a friend? There was no one. So, eventually, he started talking to thee caged dove, wondering if it could understand him. HE told it about Clavis' mischief, Belle's training, and the fight for the throne. All through it, the dove stayed quiet, its head tilted towards him. Was he so inhuman that he could not have real humans as friends? Was it pathetic he reached for a dove instad? But it was more reliable that any human. It didn't brat at him, it just stayedd in its cage. And anytime he let it fly in his room for a while, it seemed so happy and grateful. Despite all his work for the princes and country, barely anyone recognised that. So he took pride in the dove's reactions. He couldn't let it leave anymore. HE needed it. It might just be a bird, but
they could relate to each other.

okay, I do need to rant
So I just finished this book - not naming it because I don’t want my rant to end up in any tags or search - and I’m mad and disappointed.
It was a humongous thing, almost 800 pages (according to a very quick search somewhere between 160k and 200k, I did read the German translation so probably even a bit more) and I saw it in my local, small, independent bookstore (this is important because it was also not cheap and it least that purchase supported them^^°) and it looked cool and sounded interesting so I bought it very spontaneously.
The premise is very much based on the power of translation and while I’m not a trained translator I did study English and have tried my hand at a couple of other languages as well, so a novel based in Oxford, about the power of translation and learning different languages sounded right up my alley. That it is a magical power, thus making this a fantasy novel, plus set in the 19th centry, making it a historic novel, made it sound all the better.
And man, did I want to love it. It has so many things I love, the premise is super cool (everything that gets lost in translation, those little secondary meanings that don’t transfer from language to language, has its own power, becomes magic in its own right, that is such a cool concept!!!), the cast should have been interesting, the setting fascinating (a tower of translation in the middle of Oxford, (em)powering the British Empire through the languages of those people it has colonised, (ab)using those translators from other cultures to further the Empire’s thirst for power and silver and world domination).
But for the most part it felt just ... sterile and then at the end - spiteful?
There is one main narrator for almost all of the book and I still cannot really characterise him. Never mind the 180° turn his characterisation takes at the very end, what irritated me most was that we meet him as a child and then again after a ten year or so time jump as a student at Oxford - and there was no difference!! Like, that’s not how you write a round interesting character, in my opinion.
The other main characters are hardly more three-dimensional, they seemed stock characters almost. There is the best friend of the narrator, whose death is part of what so suddenly transforms the narrator ( I have thoughts about that, but I don’t want this rant to be absolutely endless) and that’s about all he adds to the novel.
And then there’s the two girls, one black (?) with Haitian heritage and one white, English girl. And boyyy do I have thoughts on them.
Okay, I need to take a step back for this next part of the rant to have any hope of making sense: The novel is about translation, but mostly it is about colonisation, the British Empire and the consequences of both, especially for the countries, cultures, people and languages that have been colonised/stand in the way of furthering England’s hegemony. The novel is clearly, explicitely, relentlessly critical of that and rightly so. But it really is relentless - not only in its criticism of colonisation (again, very much agree with that), but in its pursuit to portray the culpability of every white character.
Some - many! - are very much culpable, but in their multitude, they become almost caricatures, to the point of loosing any real impact. They never have any motivation beyond greed and disdain for anyone not English and that makes it hard to care at some point. Why yes, another white racist, what else.
It’s most ridiculous in the white girl of the student quartett. She’s honestly the one with the most interesting characterisation - and still becomes a caricature at the end. She’s the only one of the group that is fully white and English, the daughter of a retired Admiral, and as much as the book makes sure to make clear how little she understands her friends and the racially motivated mistreatment and abuse they face - it also becomes clear how little the characters (or the book) care to understand her. She’s white and thus privileged and that’s it. She can never understand them and when she tries and asks, it’s annoying and self-serving. When she feels bad about how they’ve been treated, what they continue to face, it’s portrayed as egotistical and a selfish emotion. She gets one chapter from her point of view, and everything that that chapter introduces is summarily ignored for the rest of the novel. Instead, she becomes the ultimate villain, the one who will pursue her best friend to the end of the world to kill her rather than accept a challenge to her world view! (God, I’m so mad at how the novel treats her)
And ugh, I’m too much of a feminist for this novel. It feels like whatever the opposite of intersectional feminism is - misogyny is - you can’t even say second to racism, because it is made very clear that it doesn’t matter at all. Letty’s (the white girl’s) chapter is all about how misogyny has shaped her life, has almost kept her from being able to study, which was her biggest dream, and that honestly would work reasonably well as a motivation for her actions against her friends, but instead of digging deeper into this issue, the novel again sidesteps it in favour of portraying her as unable to change her racist point of view and thus turning from squeamish girl to ruthless killer in the span of a page.
Oh, there’s a scene of the girls being harrassed at a ball, but again, it’s only driven by racism, the misogyny is simply a vehicle.
In fact, in a turn that feels really spiteful, the only white character who sides with the characters of colour in the novel (the single white character, there literally is no one else who sides with them without having additional motivations) is the one female Professor who is portrayed as vehemently anti-feminist. And then she gets to die.
It all just rubs me really wrong.
Finally, (for now, I do have more thoughts) the novel is just ... long. It’s more scientific paper than literary novel for long parts and it just drags on - and I’m actually interested in the topic in question and in fact at least partially studied it myself! It’s all written so emotionless and mechanical that it’s hard to understand the motivation and supposed love of the characters for this field of study.
And then there’s the footnotes of course. They don’t know if they want to be in text commentary, or historical background explanation or fictional additional information. This might be a personal pet peeve, but for a novel that’s set in a clearly defined historical period, and which goes to great lengths to explain the changes made to the layout of Oxford for the sake of the novel, I hated how it mixed footnotes that were clearly fictional additional information and footnotes that might have given actual historical background. A historical fantasy novel doesn’t have to be historically accurate (if that is even possible) but I think that it should at least not muddy the waters of what is fiction and what is history unnecessarily. And this is now very much a personal pet peeve, but I just reread a children’s fantasy series which includes its secondary sources on the time period and the cultures portrayed in the novels - and if a novel about dragons and vikings can do that, how can a novel that throws around names and dates and quotes and actual historical events on pretty much every page not?!
I think that’s enough ranting for today, though my ask box is open, if you should happen to have any questions^^°

Fr., 12.1.2024, 21:00 Uhr: MARTIN SAVAGE GANG (SE) + KEROSENE KREAM (SE) Komet Musik Bar, Hamburg
Tumblr media
MARTIN SAVAGE GANG
Nein, Martin Savage kennt keine Langeweile. (OX 152 , Okt/Nov 2020)
KEROSENE KREAM (SE)
Quirky new wave from Stockholm for the now-times. They’ve got a quirky vibe, not in an arty or weirdo way but fun, like if GORILLA ANGREB was really the B-52’S. All four songs are upbeat and have strong pop hooks, elevated by multiple charismatic vocalists and a layer of electronics that liven up the whole production. It’s okay and even healthy to have a little fun every once in a while, so if you’re brooding as much as I am these days look no further than KEROSENE KREAM if you need a little pick-me-up. (MRR 455, April 2021)

I do not want to be perceived after writing this
Unless if you want to give me praise that is.
I'm trying to learn how to make fic a little shorter rather than writing a whole ass essay.
Tumblr media
"You're so noisy, hondje."
Theo opens one of the drawers to his nightstand and pulls out a gag. One of the ones with the rubber ball. He pops the ball into your mouth like it's a piece of candy and tied the ribbon behind your head as delicate as possible.
Now you really have to control your breathing. Your hands are tied to the posts of his bed while your legs are tied to a spreader bar. There's leather cuffs around your ankles which are chained to this long metal bar.
"You're going to be a good girl while I'm gone, right?" He kneels on the bed and rubs his thumb against your cheek. "I know you're not going to make a sound. Imagine if someone saw you like this."
His hand slowly moves down, lightly grazing your nipple, down and around your belly button and to your crotch.
"This sight is for my eyes only, right hondje?" You look him in the eyes and nod your head. "Such a good girl. I trained you so well."
You bite down on the gag as Theo pushes a vibrator into you. Once he has it all the way in, he turns it on. You bite down on the rubber ball as the vibrations make their way through your body.
"I'll be back after work," Theo puts his jacket in and grabs his hat. "Don't have too much fun without me," he leaves his room, locking it behind him, leaving you there in the bed.

Kimetsu no Yaiba - Mugen Train: Review
Tumblr media
With the end of season one of the anime, Kimetsu no Yaiba rolled in with the highly anticipated move “Mugen Train” or “Mugen Reshaa-hen” in japanese.
As the anime ended on a very interesting note that played directly into the movie, leaving all viewers on their toes, and the announcement of the new season on the go, let us walk together through the infinite rows of the “Mugen Train” before the story continues.
Being released in the COVID-19 pandemic, the Kimetsu no Yaiba movie made it into the cinemas in japan on the 16th of October 2020 and internationally over the rest of 2020 and into the middle of 2021. Being highly anticipated and watched all over the globe, popularity rose extremely as it grossed over 503 million dollars and making it the highest grossing film of 2020.
After setting numerous records and claiming many awards, it has become the highest grossing anime and japanese film of all time.
Plot:
Tumblr media
With the rumble of the train on the steel tracks, Tanjiro together with Nezuko, Inosuke and Zenitsu board to aid the Flame Hashira Rengoku.
If you remember from the last episode of the anime, our protagonists crows (and sparrow) are called to embark on a new mission in which a demon supposedly has taken 40 humans captive. As Inosuke and Tanjiro bask in the presence of the sight of their first ever train, chaos ensues as they are chased by the authorities and quickly jump onto the train.
The story continues in the movie, as we see our quartett settle into their seats and they meet Rengoku again, as he happily munches on some bento. Starting off the movie with a hopeful and fun note that switches quickly, when all inhabitants of the train get their tickets stamped. Not long afterwards, the foretold demons attack their wagon and Rengoku steps in to slash them with a display of his immense power.
Upon his win, Tanjiro, Inosuke and Zenitsu are positively overwhelmed by the hashira’s strength and crowd around him to become his apprentice as they chant for their ‘big brother’. All seems well, until the slightly uncharacteristic behaviour of the three bleeds into the foreground and we realise it's all just Rengoku’s dream.
Suddenly, our heroes have all fallen asleep and fall deeper into a peaceful dreamland each second.
Each and everyone of them dreams of something they desire, which turns out to be a ploy from the lower rank one called Enmu, who puts a spell on all passengers. He instructs four severely sleep-deprived passengers to each take care of one of our protagonists as he stands on top of the train.
As everyone dreams of something peaceful and nice like we see with Zenitsu who finally captured Nezuko’s heart or Inosuke who weirdly hopes to have a cave exploration while he orders Tanjiro and Zenitsu around. We continue to follow the point of view of Tanjiro, whose dream brings us back to the snowy fields of his home village.
He recognized his home and can’t believe his own eyes as his beloved family is right in front of him, happy that he has come back. Out of pure guilt he apologizes to them immediately for leaving them to die until he slowly but surely forgets they died in the first place.
Confused, but not able to quite remember why it feels weird for him to see his sibling again, he gets accustomed to his old lifestyle and even sees his mother again. Happier than ever, and believing everything bad before was just a dream, he goes back to his duties as the older brother.
Meanwhile, we find out that the four passengers instructed by Enmu are linked to the same dreams as the demon slayers to delve deep into their subconscious and destroy what is called their ‘spiritual cores’ which will make them unable to ever wake up again.
Tanjiro is back in his old lifestyle and feels better than ever, although flashes of his current life appear suddenly. Just as he catches onto the ruse by being reminded that he was on a train by none other than himself, he finds the old human Nezuko in front of him who greets him.
Tanjiro knows it is his right to live like this forever, but he also knows that this is merely a dream and he begrudgingly leaves his family behind. He finds out through the ghostly figure of his father, that he has to commit suicide to leave the dream, and surely as he slashes his neck he awakes on the rumbling train.
Everyone else except Nezuko is awake, and after severing the ties between the four passengers and their friends, Tanjiro knocks out the desperate children who finally want a peaceful night's sleep as well.
After searching for the source of the demon scent that is now all over the train, Tanjiro encounters Enmu and promptly starts to fight him and even manages to sever his head after using suicide to break out of the lower One’s spell. We find out after that Enmu is not that easily defeated, but his true body is the train as he fused with it.
Starting to try and attack the passengers to consume them, Zenitsu, Nezuko and Rengoku divide the wagons between each other and protect the passengers while Inosuke and Tanjiro search for Enmu’s ‘real neck’.
In fighting Enmu, he is put under the hypnotic sleeping spell again and again, each time thrown into one dream after the other. To the point where Enmu makes Tanjiros father say horrible things to him. But our hero is sure that his family would never say such things, and continues to kill himself repeatedly in the blink of an eye to keep fighting.
Together with Inosuke, they actually locate the neckbone in the front of the train and with all their efforts combined kill the lower One with a last blow.
All seems well, but the fight isn’t over yet.
After rescuing the hostages and reconvening with Rengoku, another one of the twelve Kizuki appears: Akaza, the upper moon three.
He attacks the demon slayers and starts to talk and provoke Rengoku himself, as he asks him to become a demon. Displeased by his values, Rengoku states multiple times that he cherishes the human life and how death gives it meaning, and promptly starts to fight Akaza.
Akaza’s strength is immense, as the injured Tanjiro and Inosuke cannot even clearly see them moving. The fight is intense, and has Rengoku going at his utmost limit of power to try and destroy the demon in front of him.
After a long stretch of tension filled moments, and some immense willpower that has been exuded by the flame hashira, finally sun breaks.
Akaza panics, as he is trapped by Rengoku’s last strength but somehow still makes it into the forest to flee. To which Tanjiro starts screaming behind, shaming him for his cowardly behaviour and declaring that Rengoku has won in tears. Saying that even though Rengoku has the disadvantage of not being able to regenerate and having a less durable body, he fought Akaza head on.
The entire fight builds into Rengoku on his knees, asking Tanjiro to listen to his last words.
He explains that his father had documents of the preceding flame hashira, and tells him what he should tell his family after he has died. Before he takes his last breath, he encourages him and says that he believes in his sister although she is a demon, and instructs him to always hold his head up high.
As he sees an apparition of his mother, he dies peacefully with a smile on his face and leaves the weeping demon slayer corps behind. As the other hashira are informed, they all mourn his death
Now that we’ve all relived this tragic turn of events, let us all dive into the form and setting of this movie, shall we?
Animation and Setting:
Tumblr media
Kimetsu no Yaiba has been notorious for its incredibly gorgeous artstyle. Especially the breathing techniques and the landscapes are beautifully sculpted and leave no place for imagination.
Aside from the anime’s specialties with Tanjiro’s water techniques and Zenitsu’s thunderclaps we have a new focus on the one and only flame hashira’s abilities. In the movie, we see truly what Rengoku is capable of, and the flames that lick at his majestic sword are truly a sight to behold.
The landscapes may be nothing new unto themselves, but the fog that lifts from Tanjiro’s hometown, as well as the scene in which his current self wakes him up from the dream in crystal clear water is another artistic masterpiece that leaves the viewer mesmerized with its beauty.
There is some CGI embedded into the scenes with Enmu in which he fuses with the train, that might look a little uncomfortable at first when compared to the traditional style animation of Kimetsu no Yaiba, but quickly perfectly melds into the scenery as the ‘disgusting’ slime atrocity that is Enmu’s body.
There are scenes in which colours suddenly and drastically change into a contrast rich ‘black and white’ display with the accent colour red that shows blood, that really set themselves apart from the usually very colourful art style.
There is a mixture of the known and the new, and the Mugen-Train movie blends them all perfectly together to truly leave a great cinematic experience.
There are small details such as the flickering light in the train and the ongoing sound of the train tracks that encapsulate the steampunk vibe that the movie shows us. With the ‘new era’ of modern transport and the protagonists that come from more rural places, it's a fully new experience for the viewer and the characters as well.
The sun rising in those last emotional moments as Akaza tried to get away shows us a beautiful gradient that isn’t even the focus of the scene, but still steals the show with its glory. Even the blood seeping through Rengoku’s robes as he is close to death has a disturbing beauty to it, and the camerawork again brings us closer to the characters.
With the quick shifts between perspectives and some 360 shots of for example Tanjiro in the water, bring a dynamic that only fuels the quick and action-filled movie that doesn't let up with its plot twists until it's over.
Characters and Development:
Tumblr media
All characters have gone through some very taxing and emotional moments in this movie.
Especially Tanjiro and Rengoku have built a very close relationship in that small amount of time, working together and having that signature senpai/kohai relationship.
Since we see a lot from Tanjiro’s perspective, it is just as interesting to see the development other characters have made.
Inosuke for example has not only learned to use his sharp instincts to the advantage of his comrades, but as he fights together with Tanjiro against Enmu his communication is seen to be a lot better. He works together with his peer and makes sure that Tanjiro is okay, as he fears for his safety.
This behaviour is very new for the wild character that he is, and it's even more emotional to see how in touch with his feelings he is after Regoku’s death. After all of the hard fighting, he screams at Tanjiro and Zenitsu not to cry thoughtlessly but to move on, as he sheds his own tears.
We also find that Zenitsu’s protective instinct kicks in harder than before as he has to help Nezuko, which is something we’ve seen before but still a beautiful sight. His anxiousness is obviously still there, but one can’t deny his reliability when it comes to the sake of innocent passengers and the people he loves.
Tanjiro’s struggle with survivors' guilt and ‘leaving family behind’, is nothing new but it still showed us his kind heart and noble character again as he has to make the soul crushing decision to leave his family. Because he could definitely have stayed in the bliss of a false dream, but he made the right decision to fight. It is a more vulnerable side that truly brought some dimension into his character.
In the end, we see that Rengoku has left a gnawing impact behind, as all three of the demon slayers cry over his death. This will be another trial that our heroes have to overcome to become stronger, which is just another frustrating step they have to take.
As much as it may hurt for us all, Rengoku’s death is a step in Tanjiro, Zenitsu and Inosuke’s path to reach their goals.
To sum it all up, “Mugen Reshaa-hen” is a movie that truly is a very unique experience. From the setting and animation to the heart wrenching plot it stays in your heart if you let it. From happy to sad to action-filled and bitter-sweet, this movie is rightfully in many top lists.
Now at the end of the movie, we’re left again with the horrible feeling of wanting to know “what happens next?”, but do not fear! As mentioned before, season two is already on its way. The first episode being released on the 10th of october and more to follow, the second to seventh episode will be a recap of the movie with some added bonus scenes.
Until then, let us all set our hearts ablaze!

Miraculous-Abominable AU
Before I even watched the movie Yi made me think a lot of Kagami, because of the similar ethnicity and the absence of their father’s. Felix was supposed to take Jin’s role, but I felt like it made more sense with Adrien since I wasn’t sure about Felix’s characteristics at that time. (Funny fact: In my mother language Adrien and Jin share the same voice actor  😂 I’ve seen the movie only in German and English and I kinda prefer these dubs, English mostly)
Also this AU drabble takes place in Japan and has a couple of differences to the original movie.
Characters:
Yi = Kagami Tsurugi
Everest, the yeti = Longg, a dragon cub
Jin = Adrien Agreste
Peng, Jin’s cousin = Hope, my OC’ sister of Adrien
Dr. Zara = Mrs. Mendeleiev
Mr. Burnish = Armand D’Argencourt
Tumblr media
Sorry, the images are supposed to be next to each other. Just skip them, if they’re annoying.
Tumblr media
A mysterious red creature escapes a scientific labor and under Dr. Mendeleiev’s lead they left to look for the creature around Nagasaki and lose it. In the meanwhile, the creature got hurt and brought itself in safety in the garden of a family hiding in a small barrack.
Next morning Kagami Tsurugi left her house very soon without warning her mother and grandfather, who were getting worried about her absence every day since the death of Mr. Tsurugi, the biological father of Kagami. During the days Kagami spends her time doing dirty jobs for people, that can’t do it or don’t enjoy doing it for the exchange of money. On the late evening, Kagami arrives and passes by the neighbor girl Hope, which asked Kagami for a match of soccer, which Kagami declined making Hope sad and complain, she can’t even play with Adrien Agreste together, which is her older brother, who since Kagami’s father’s death changed and was now one of the cool boys.
Kagami later encounters in the barrack the sleeping creature, which got scared of her and hid inside a hole of a stone-made oven. Kagami discovers, that the creature was hurt and as she heard on the streets a type of unit looking for a “monster” Kagami closed the door of the barrack and turned the lights off, so they wouldn’t be spot.
On the other day Kagami came back with a first aid box and a book so she could take care of the creature’s injury and he shows her a book of Japan and the creature points out on a image of the Mount Rausu, which made the creature sad and Kagami realized that this was the home of the creature.
On the meanwhile, the leader of an organization for rare animal species Armand D’Argencourt was angry and threatened Dr. Mendeleiev to find the dragon cub, which was the mystical creature they were looking for back in Nagasaki.
Back in Yi’s house Yi’s grandfather complained, that he was freezing inside the house and Kagami saw, that the heater had been stolen and she  left quickly through the window of her room, for the grandfather to not notice. On that time Hope Agreste came to visit the Tsurugi’s to ask for Kagami’s help and the grandfather asked, if she could get Adrien to get the heater back from the thief confusing Hope, but she still got his brother, soon both find Kagami inside the barrack trying to get the heater off the dragon’s hands and Adrien tries to protect Kagami by using a long, wooden spoon but is pushed away by the dragon, that mistakes Adrien for a bad guy, but Kagami assures the two siblings are just friends.
The team that is being led by Dr. Mendeleiev invade the garden of the Tsurugi’s and in panic the dragon escapes while towing Kagami with him and all follow the creature while Adrien along with his sister took the other direction to find Kagami. The four managed to encounter themselves in a train station and help the creature into a cargo train, Kagami seeing that the dragon was in panic by going alone she decided to jump behind the animal to accompany him, soon Hope joined followed by a frustrated Adrien and they go along with Kagami.
On the next day Adrien calls his father lying to him, that they were visiting a university in Tokyo together with Kagami and Hope, then the dragon which they named Longg escapes from the train hiding in a bush, because it had to pee, followed by Kagami and Hope, which didn’t want to leave the creature alone. Annoyed Adrien followed them and searches on his smartphone for train schedules and warned them, that they need to be at 4am at the next train station to head back home, but Kagami disagreed, cause she needs to bring the dragon home.
In the night near Yotsuya they stop by the Suga shrine which Adrien recognized from an Anime and Kagami suggested them to eventually overnight them, before crossing the woods together. Adrien, which got scared by howlings coming from the woods agreed and lied down on the ground watching his sister laugh with the dragon as she teaches him how to play rock, paper, scissor making the gang realize, that the dragon must be a cub.
The next day the quartett followed a railway track from Adrien’s smartphone and passed by a buddhist temple and admired it, soon the group lead by Dr. Mendeleiev appeared and the group tried to escape, but got trapped on the top of the temple. Longg grabs Kagami and Hope, then took off in the air floating up surprising Adrien along with the gang and the dragon flew away leaving Adrien back with the group, which ran the temple down and Adrien cried loud, that he would not give up until he would be reunited together with them. (They’re near Kyoto)
Adrien is convinced that the group is only an organization to take care of endangered species and explains them, where they’re going and is promised to be brought safe home if they aline. At the night Adrien is allowed to overnight at Mr. D’Argencourt’s caravan and as he couldn’t sleep well he went out and heard Dr. Mendeleiev talk with another team member, that she’s willing to kill the dragon and the kids for the sake of their earnings. Adrien in shock escapes from the camp finding his own way back to Kagami and Co.
Many days later Kagami is in danger along with Hope and Longg as the team appeared again trying to catch the cub and to their luck a messy-looking Adrien appears in a motorboat and he helps the trio escape and disappear in the middle of the woods and before they were about to crash against the end of the lake, Longg uses his hands to make magic and cause their boat to fly.
Unfortunately they crashed against a tree, falling with the boat on the ground, Kagami lost her photo album and they found it in their boat. All pages crumbled and Kagami ran away crying, making the Agreste’s sad, including the dragon Longg. Adrien followed Kagami and tries to comfort her and listens to Kagami complain how she kept behaving by distancing herself from her family to avoid to grieve. Although her relationship with Adrien was broken due to the death of her father, they reconcile and Adrien admits also he has been a douche the past months around her and his younger sister and promises to change to the better. When Kagami came to show the others, she felt better Longg hold his hands up to show Kagami her book has been restored with his magic, making the girl happy.
The next day they encountered a road, that head to the metropole Tokyo and Kagami checked the picture album of her father to see the Toyko tower and realized the locations from the book she has seen them all along with the dragon and the siblings, then Longg points at the sign with the name of the capital and Kagami realizes, that Longg did guuide them to those specific locations with intention, making Kagami glad and hug the cub. The group visit the tower and admire the metropole over the night making Kagami get emotional and tear up for the first time after the death of her father and is comforted by the trio.
At night the quartet spent the whole day traveling on a train to Shari district and were only a few miles away from their destination. Unluckily they encountered on an industrial zone Dr. Mendeleiev, Mr. D’Argencourt and their team and surrounds the kids and aim them with their tranquilizing guns. Longg seeing the teens frightened growls loudly and stays in front of them to avoid them to be hit. Mr. D’Argencourt who had ordered the group to aim at the quartet notices Longg’s behavior around the teens and realizes, he’s just trying to protect them and orders them to stop. Mrs. Mendeleiv orders the commander of the group to aim at Mr. D’Argencourt instead and he puts the man to sleep and Mrs. Mendeleiev uses the situation to trick her own team out, while she along with the commander tried to tranquilize the dragon cub with success. Kagami gets angry and tries to fight Dr. Mendeleiev and she tries to aim the girl with her tranquilizer gun, but instead, she aims at Hope, shrieking Adrien which caught his little sister and tried to wake her up. Kagami, which witnessed it was pushed away and watched Dr. Mendeleiev run at the dragon to help the team pull the sleeping cub into a cage. Kagami watched in sadness the mean guys carry the monster into the cage and Kagami remembers the book of her father and has an idea, then grabbed the book, which contained the magic of the creature and she tried to use it and by accident releases a bolt aiming the car, causing it to stop as the engine failed.  Longg, who slowly woke from the dart, realized he was stuck and broke the cage he was in and ran away from the group to get back to Kagami and the others. Kagami shouted loud to warn Longg as in another car Dr. Mendeleiev took the lead and guided the car against the dragon cub. To their misery, Longg ran against a water silo spitting fire against it burning its legs and it fell down crashing the vehicle of Dr. Mendeleiev down.
Armand D’Argencourt watched his group trying to fix the engine of their car and he walks up at the dragon holding his hand out to apologize him and that such an interesting, mythical creature should better remain a secret and the dragon accepts it. Armand offers the teens a ride back home and they accept, but before they had to bring the dragon cub back home.
Soon on the mount Rausu, they were in the middle of the fog and encounter the parents of the cub along with a few other mythical creatures and Longg shares a last goodbye with Kagami and the two Agreste’s.
Back home Kagami was now in a better terms with her family and invite her friends Adrien and Hope for dinner and Adrien hands Kagami out a note, which was from Armand D’Argencourt telling them to be prepared for their next adventure.

In which we muse about the crew playing DnD because Crowley’s secretly a great big nerd.
Now, after watching runesmith’s best and worst FEATS vid I told @just-mostly-dead that this sounds like Crowley trying to explain character building to the rest of he Qaos Quartett (Az, hastur & ligur).
Imagine Crowley DM a campaign for those three, anathema, newt and Gabe. (maybe beez too).
Quote Just-Mostly: the real first peace meeting between everyone is just crowley finally having a group for his homebrew dnd campaign hes been writing for decades
Crowley gets mildly upset at Hastur not getting things at first, but lends him the player’s guide. Next meeting Hastur rolls up with a full-fledged tiefling bard named Padlock.
Quote Just-Mostly: years of fighting healed because ligur makes a gnome paladin named munch
Crowley had mockery for hastur on his lips when hastur said he made a tiefling. before hastur showed him the character sheet
Quote Just-Mostly: newt plays a ranger but badly. no wait wild magic sorcerer. he always gets the roll effects that fuck him up just like him with a computer
Anathema would play a barbarian, just to spite agnes. Like she prolly even went as far as to say 'yeah, you see, my half-elf barbarian was foretold to become the greatest sorcerer of her area and everyone was pouring all that training into that, and then she went and said 'screw it'
Quote Just-Mostly: Newt: you okay there An? Sounds like you got a little... repressed emotion there Anathema: Say that again and your sorcerer is next
The barbarian is henceforth known as Stabby
Gabe would surprise everyone by officially having made a human priest... until ligur notes the other sheet he's been scribbled on... which turns out to be a human warlock
Quote Just-Mostly: crowley is living for it his secret nerd is out there in the open hes only happier when hastur says they have an idea for a campaign. high magic and all about travelling to the feywild - everything is like wild magic in some magical happenstance newt is the only one that doesnt get the negative effects though when rolling

This is going places.
Feel free to chime in.

Victoria, Princess Royal praying on her wedding day by Queen Victoria, 25th January 1858
“The 2nd most eventful day in my life, as regarded feelings, for I felt almost as if it were I that was being married over again, only much more nervous, — A thick fog, & a sharp frost early. — Whilst dressing dear Vicky came in to see me, looking, composed, & in a fine, quiet disposition. This relieved me greatly. We went down to breakfast with dear Alexandrine. Of course Fritz, whom I tenderly embraced, & who was much moved, was there too. The dear Princess also came in for the moment. — My Dressing room was arranged for Vicky & she began dressing at about 1/2 p. 10. Our hair was done by Nestor, one after the other. When she was ready she came through in her bridal attire, looking very pretty & nice. Her dress was of white moire antique, trimmed with 3 flounces of Honiton lace & wreaths & spray of orange flowers & myrtle. The wreath & veil were to match & the train was the same as the dress. My dress was of mauve moire antique & silver, trimmed with Honiton lace. I wore my Regal Diadem & the crown diamonds. My train was of velvet also trimmed with lace. Vicky was daguerreotyped in my room, & she & her dear father & I, together, but I trembled so that it has come out indistinct. Then, it was time to go.
The sun shining brightly, 1000s out, since very early, — shouting, — ringing of bells, &c. — Albert, Uncle & the 2 Boys went 1st, then the 3 girls in pink satin trimmed with Newport lace, Alice with a wreath of cornflowers & marguerites, the 2 others only with sprays of them, in their hair. The 4 Boys wore Highland dress. The Hall was full of people. The flourish of trumpets & cheering of thousands, made my heart sink within me, & I could hardly command myself. Vicky drove in the carriage with me, sitting opposite. At St. James's Palace we want into a prettily arranged retiring room, where Uncle, my dear Albert & the 8 Bridesmaids were waiting. They looked so nice, in white tulle dresses with wreaths & bouquets of pink roses & white heather.
Then went into the Closet where Mama (looking so handsome, in violet velvet, trimmed with ermine), & the Cambridges were. All the foreign Princes & Princesses excepting Uncle, the Prince, & Pce Albert had already taken up their places in the Chapel. A Procession was formed, just as at my wedding, only how small the older Royal Family had become! Mama came last, just before me, then Ld Palmerston, with the Sword Of State, Bertie & Affie, — I, with the 2 little Boys (on either side of me), which they say had a most touching effect, & the 3 girls following. The Chapel, though too small, looked very imposing & well, filled with so many Clergy, Officers, in bright uniforms, & elegantly dressed Ladies.
The drums & trumpets played Marches, the organ playing others, as the Processions approached & entered. There was of course a slight pause between each, & the effect was thrilling & striking as one heard the music coming nearer & nearer. Fritz behaved with the greatest self possession, as he came in, bowing to us, & then kneeling down before the altar, in a most truly devotional manner. Last came the Bride's Procession, our darling ‘Flower’ looking very touching & lovely, with such an innocent, confident & serious expression, on her dear face. She walked between her beloved Father & dear Uncle Leopold, who had been present at both her Christening & Confirmation.
My last fear of being overcome, vanished, when I saw Vicky's calm & composed manner. It looked beautiful seeing her kneeling beside Fritz, their hands joined, her long train born by the 8 young ladies, who looked like a cloud of young girls hovering round her, as they knelt near her. How it reminded me of my having similarly, proudly, tenderly, confidently knelt beside my beloved Albert, in the very same spot. The Children, (the 3 girls) were a good deal â€˜Ă©nnu’ & Alice cried dreadfully. The Archbishop was very nervous. Both Vicky & Fritz spoke very plainly.
When the service was over we tenderly embraced the young couple, & then Vicky went to her new Parents & we crossed over to the dear Prince & Princess, who were much moved. After this the Bride & Bridegroom left the Chapel hand, in hand, followed by their supporters, Mendelssohn's Wedding march being played, & we all went up to the Throne Room, where the Register was signed. Here there were general congratulations & shaking of hands, with all the relations. After all the Royalties had signed their names, the Clergy, Ministers &c. followed, & the young couple returned to Buckingham Palace together. I drove with Uncle & the Princess, whom I asked to call me ‘Du’.
Tremendous crowds, & cheering & we went with the young couple to the celebrated window, from which they stepped out on to the balcony to show themselves, we, Uncle, & the Pce & Pss also coming out. We all went to the White Drawing room, where we were met by HĂ©lĂšne OrlĂ©ans, her 2 sons, the Aumales & Princess de Salerno, then, came the wedding breakfast 'en famille’, in which were included Pce John of Holstein & our 6 other Children! The young couple sat together, opposite us, but hid by a splendid wedding cake. I, sat between Uncle & the Pce of Prussia, Ld St. Germans, who sat at the bottom of the table, was the only other person there. The Band played. At dessert, Leopold & the darling Baby, dressed in pink, like her sisters, with a little bunch of cornflowers & marguerites in her cap, came in.
After luncheon we separated almost immediately, for the young couple to change their clothes. I also changed my dress, & at 20 m. p. 4, Vicky came to my room, to bid me goodbye, much ‘en larmes', poor dear child. She was dressed in white velour Ă©pinglĂ©, mantle of the same, trimmed with grĂšbe & a white bonnet with orange flowers, & a fine lace veil, which she put down. Embraced & gave her my blessing, & she became calmer. In the Audience Room all the family & royal guests were assembled.
In embracing Fritz, I gave him my blessing & told him that I gave our child with perfect confidence into his hands. We accompanied the young couple to the door, being joined here by Uncle. The whole Court were there, having come to see them leave. After one more embrace saw them drive off with an Escort, & amidst much cheering. We ran up to look out of the window, but they had already disappeared! Jane Churchill, Sir F. Stovin, Col. Seymour & Herr von Schweinitz went with them. — My dear kind friend, the Princess came to see me, & we had a most pleasant, & satisfactory confidential talk about our dear Children. She is a great comfort & support to me. — We dined ‘en famille', & felt so lost without Vicky. Received a dear kind little letter from our beloved Child, full of peaceful happiness.
There had been enormous crowds, such enthusiasm, flowers & illuminations everywhere. The Eton Boys had dragged the carriage up to the Castle & made an immense noise. — At near 10 we went into the White Drawingroom, where all were assembled, Alice & Affie also appearing, & the Maharajah. I wore white & gold moire antique, trimmed with red velvet bows, a diamond diadem & ornaments, including the Koh i Noor.
A State Concert took place in the Ball Room. The following pieces were performed: Part of Handel's Coronation Anthem, — Quartette 'Placido e il Mar’ by Mozart; (Mlle Cl. Novello, Guiglini, Weiss, &c. —) — Chorus, ‘The Heavens are Telling' from Haydn's 'Creation'; — 'Della sua Pace' from Don Giovanni; Mozart; (sung by Guiglini) — Choral Fantasia by Beethoven (all, singing, & Mrs Anderson at the piano.) Bridal Procession & March from Wagner's, 'Lohengrin'; — Air from Meyerbeer's Robert le Diable, 'Toi que j'aime (sung by Clara Novello); — Finale from the 'Loveley' (solo, sung by Miss Pyne); — Serenata 'The Dream', composed specially for the wedding by Costa, & led by him (Tolos, Clara Novello, Sims Reeves, Weiss, &c — singing).
Everyone I spoke to, was most kind & feeling & all the Prussians & Princes so pleased & impressed with the ceremony. Only got to our rooms at 1/2. So thankful all had gone off so well. We thought much, on retiring to rest of our young couple, praying God to bless them & bring them much happiness.”

"Man fuchst sich rein in so was", sagte Hofmann gelassen.
